It's so nice to start over. To get a fresh start. To put the past where it belongs. In our case, that was moving out of the apartment where we've spend the last two years of our lives.
Starting a few weeks after moving in, until a few days ago, I couldn't wait to get out of that place! I don't want to turn this into a landlord bashing post, so all I'm going to say is that they were neglectful of the property. It was and still is a health risk to a small or compromised immune system. And those risks were being ignored by the landlord and health officials.
But, we needed two bedrooms, and it was the biggest/cheapest we could afford- so we stayed.
In December, my husband's grandfather, who was 96 years old, passed away. And not long after, it was suggested that we rent or rent to own his house. It was a bittersweet blessing for us. While he will be great missed, it afforded us the opportunity to move out and into a much better place.
There is a giant yard for our lovebug to play in, a playground and community pool within walking distance, neighbors seem friendly, and just all around better for everyone.
We are now almost all the way moved in. A few things remain at our old apartment, and I still need to clean and put things where they belong. But before long, the apartment will be a distant memory, and we can move on with our lives.
Lastly, I want to apologize as I've left the blog sort of unattended. Once we are settled, I will resume posting :)
