All of the hubub

Thursday morning, while visiting a forum I participate in, I read a thread about one of the women finding out she was hypothyroid. A few symptoms were listed off. And the light went on over my head.
The past few months, I've been feeling especially tired and drained. I've been getting snappy over little stuff to hubby, even to Lovebug, and it makes me feel just awful :( There are so many other things, too. Most of them I'd just attributed to hormonal changes from having a baby. But, that light bulb prompted me to think otherwise.
I hate playing Dr. Google, but I looked up other symptoms of Hypothyroidism. After almost every symptom was a big picture of me, me, me! I called the doctor and was thankfully able to get in today to be checked out.

When I got to the doctors, one of the first things she did, was check my previous blood work. Apparently, blood work from mid 2008 showed that I WAS hypothyroid. For some reason, it was either lost, or looked over, because nothing was done about it.
The doctor prescribed a plethora of new blood work, to recheck my thyroid, and rule out any other factors. She also wants me to have an MRI w/ and w/o contrast and an MRA very soon (like today), to rule out brain tumor and aneurysms (which have a scary high rate in my family).

So, that is what is going on. The following part of the post, is me griping about the new hospital. You don't have to read it, if you don't want to. But, I need to get it out!

So, I left the doctors, at almost 5 pm, and went to the very NEW hospital to have the blood work done. I'd not been there before. But, I heard it was absolutely crazy. It's supposed to be a better facility (it is replacing two hospitals) and be better technology.
Lets just say I was pretty lost just pulling into the parking lot. And trying to find registration? It was like a maze. Once I did find registration, there was no one there. Some kind lady pointed to a kiosk that you are supposed to check in at and get a number. There are no signs or anything pointing to the kiosk that explains you are supposed to check in there rather than the empty registration desk.
So we wait, and wait, and wait some more. I had heard that waiting times were supposed to be minimal with the new set up, but I was sure doing plenty of it.
Finally, about 40 minutes after taking a number, I was called to register. The lady checking me in was an idiot. Seriously. She had screwed up the paperwork of the 2 people prior to me, and was heading there with mine as well. After she got over her confusion, I went to sit back down and wait some more...More than an hour later, I was finally called back to get blood taken. While I was back there, the phlebotomist proceeded to screw things up as well, and when a fellow coworker came back to check on something, they proceeded to have a bitch fest, in front of me, about all of the patients that needed to get there before 5. I ended up waiting for another 30 minutes back there, only about 2 minutes of that was her actually drawing TWELVE vials of blood.
When she was done, I hurried the hell out of there, grabbed hubby and Lovebug, and left as fast as I could. We were in there such a long time, and ran into problem after problem. There were other patients waiting, too, that they didn't know what to do with, and kept trying to pass them off to other departments. It was pretty sad and frustrating :(
And, if they couldn't get any worse- There was a girl there having an Ultrasound. She was pretty pregnant, and looked very comfortable. When she asked where the ultrasound area was, TWO people told her they had no idea. Nor did they offer to find out. So, she just sort of looked at them, and they looked at her like, "what do you want us to do about it?"

This new hospital may have better technology and be state of the art, but they have employed some of the dumbest people that have no people skills and are not personable, at all.
I have to go back today for my scans, and I am worried about how long it is going to take this time!

Are you frakking kidding me? They had in your chart for over a year that you had a hypothyroid issue, which *they think* could be caused by a *tumor* or an aneurism? Negligence much?
Sorry the new hospital is staffed by fail. *hugs* you'll prolly end up on a new med in the end, which will all skinny-i6y you, lol. *hugs*
