Although most of you already know, I'm going to recap the situation. In January, I started my period. The only problem was.... it didn't stop. 7 weeks later, I'm still bleeding. In the past couple weeks, it's gotten heavy enough to warrant a trip to the ER, where I was given provera, and that didn't even stop it!
So, I was finally able to get in with my Primary (after being told that my Gyn couldn't fit me into the schedule).
She told me right away that she would help me, which was very reassuring.
So, they did some bloodwork. Just a CBC. And she gave me two plans! I am going to start on provera again. However, this time I'll take it for 30 days, rather than 10. And I believe it's a bigger dose. I should stop bleeding in a week. If I do, I should be period free until the end of March, when I have another appointment with my Primary Doctor. We'll go from there, and I'll have my hormones tested again, to see if the issue is in there.
However, if I am still bleeding next Wednesday, I'll be rushed for a D&C and a laparoscopy to check for endometriosis (which my mother has). This wouldn't worry me, except that I was previously scheduled for a laparoscopy (teeny-tiny incision), and it ended up as a laparotomy (giant incision through my abdomen). So I'm worried it will happen again.
I just don't have the time to be in the hospital. Or even here, at home, in bed and in pain. I have a toddler! I need to take care of her.
So while I'm hoping the first plan goes as the doctor would like, I'm not too confident. I bled the entire time I was on provera previously, so I don't see it stopping for a second dose. My fingers are crossed though!
