Aloha Friday #49

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
We are beach bound next week, so any advice or tips on braving it for a week with a toddler would be greatly appreciated!

Yoga By The Dozen Review and Giveaway!

"At Yoga By The Dozen our mission is to promote a healthy lifestyle within kids regardless of fitness level. Through yoga we were able to create a non-competitive, FUN environment that teaches kids about body awareness, strength and flexibility. As yoga develops their strength, flexibility and concentration, it paves the way for a life-long tradition of health and fitness. "Yoga By The Dozen was kind enough to send Lovebug and I their DVD to try out. I have loved doing yoga since high school. It's something I find very relaxing. I don't get the chance to do it often enough anymore.
When I first read about Yoga By The Dozen, I was intrigued. I'd been hoping to find a way to get Lovebug interested in yoga as well. And I thought this could very well be that bridge!
The instructor in the video, JoAnna and her 12 friends, guide you along learning 12 poses and 12 new words (the names of the poses). The video starts off with some fundamentals of yoga and shows off the awesome T-shirt!

Lovebug didn't really pay attention to this part, after all, she is only 18 months. She did enjoy watching the other little kids introduce themselves. She did "om" along with the DVD but after that I lost her to her babydolls. I kept going along with it, and she would venture back and forth, occasionally checking out what I was doing. If nothing else, it piqued her interest!
I love how JoAnna makes Yoga
very kid friendly. She explained all of the moves and poses in a way that little ones can understand, follow, and still think it's fun! My favorite instruction was for the kids to sit "criss cross yoga sauce!" Any school age child will know that.I definitely enjoyed the video, and I know as my daughter gets a little bit older, she'll become more interested in it. Yoga By The Dozen sells the DVD, along with T-shirts, yoga mats, and more! This is a must have for any parent trying to interest their child in yoga. Namaste!
Yoga By The Dozen has generously offered to give one Moma Lovebug reader the DVD and T-shirt!

Beeber's Butts Review!

" I started using them on him when he was about 6 weeks old & loved knowing that something soft & chemical-free was touching his little butt! Plus, cloth diapers are so much cuter than a plastic disposable! :) After learning about the different kinds of cloth diapers, I found my favorites. Unfortunately, some cloth diapers are just too limited in their colors or prints, which is why I decided to start making my own. I started with my own pattern & many different prototypes until I was satisfied with the results & so were the parents of my "guinea pig" babies. :) They're trim and easy to use- I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!"
I received a lovely Violet Pail liner to review from Beeber's Butts quite awhile back. The color is very pretty, not that it matters too much since we throw stinky diapers in it. But- it's something I look for anyway! Since I've been using it since early Spring of this year, I can definitely attest to how wonderfully it's made.
Unlike most other pail liners, this one
from Beeber's Butts does not have an elastic trim at the top. Stef found that without the elastic, it was much easier to dump the diapers into the washing machine. I can see this being possible, especially with a pail liner that the elastic is tight. The Beeber's Butts Pail Liner is a generous size, too! It fits in our kitchen sized trash can perfectly, with enough fabric left to hang over so it doesn't fall into the pail. The Pail Liner is also super cheap at only $9! That's a steal, especially when I've seen other Pail Liners going for $30 or more!
Beeber's Butts also carries nursing covers, breast pads, and pocket diapers. Again, all at affordable prices!

Glow Baby Review and Giveaway!
"Founded in Toronto by Lindsay Harris, Glow Baby is dedicated to providing unique and user friendly scheduling tools for today’s busy parents. As a mother of two young daughters, Ainsley and Juliet, Lindsay quickly came to appreciate the difficulties of caring for a toddler while at the same time making sure the needs of her newborn were met.One of the first tools Lindsay developed to help her through this difficult period was a tracking log for Juliet’s basic needs such as feeding, sleeping, diapering and bathing. The tracking enabled Lindsay to better understand Juliet’s patterns and to support a schedule that made everyone’s lives easier, while at the same time reducing stress. Lindsay felt very strongly that every mother, whether they were having their first child or their fourth, could use a similar tool to help them through those tough first few months. As a result Baby’s First Journal was born."
I received the gorgeous green Baby's First Journal from Glow Baby to review awhile back. This journal helps new parents the feeding, sleeping, and diapering adventures in the early days.
Even though my "baby" isn't so much of a baby
anymore- we plan on adding baby #2 in the near future. and I thought this would be a great product to be familiar with. When Lovebug was born, I took a notebook and tried to do something similar. My notes ending up being a confusing mess and started running together. This handy little book from Glow Baby has columns already laid out for breastfeeding, bottle feeding (and if it was formula or breastmilk), diaper changes, and sleep! There is even boxes for if they had a vitamin or bath that day and a space at the bottom for any notes. You can click on the image to the right to see what the layout of the page looks like.
In the back of Baby's First Journal, there are a few pages for notes and contacts. This would be great to have all of those must have numbers in one easy place! The book is a perfect little size, so you'll be able to fit it in the diaper bag without taking up too much space. It's also great if you have a sitter, so they know your child's schedule!
Glow Baby offers a few other awesome products, too! There is a book for Baby's First Foods, a cool Organized Family Calendar, Shopping Lists, and more! I would love to get the calendar- it has a unique design that allows parents to have both a month-at-a-glance and a weekly page allowing for 6 schedules to be tracked. Check out Glow Baby's website for a full list of their great products.Glow Baby has generously offered to give one Moma Lovebug reader a $30 gift card!

Kiboomu App Review and Giveaway!
“I would teach the children music, physics and philosophy, but the most important is music, for in the patterns of the arts are the keys to all learning.” – Plato Learn. Laugh. Sing. Grow. Give Back.
That’s what Kiboomu is all about.
It’s about creating music and apps that not only entertain children, but educate as well.
It’s about encouraging children to be creative through song and play.
But, most of all, it’s about filling a child’s day with laughter while expanding their growing minds in a fun and inviting way.
If we can accomplish that, our mission is complete!
I recently bought the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Preschool Storybook Piano by KIBOOMU app on my iPod Touch for my daughter. They were also kind enough to send me some great songs for Lovebug to listen and dance to!I wasn't sure how much my daughter would really get the app, as it teaches your little one how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Even though she didn't get that part, she loved "playing" the piano and humming along to the song. I usually have my iPod on me most of the time, so if Lovebug is getting a little fussy, and I know she needs some quiet/peaceful time- I'll pull out this app!

The songs we were reviewed are Good Morning, I love you, and 6 Little Ducks. They were all fun, upbeat, and Lovebug had a blast dancing and quacking to them. Their album is only around 5 dollars! As lovebug gets a little older, we'll definitely be purchasing it!
You can find Kiboomu on their website, Twitter, Facebook, and iTunes!
Kiboomu is giving away the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Preschool Storybook Piano app to TWENTY of my readers! Just comment once with the name of your (or your little one's) favorite song! The first twenty to comment will win!

Hold My Bag Review and Giveaway!

After carrying around a diaper bag for nearly 18 months, I was tired of it. The diaper bag even went with me if Lovebug didn't. It had been so long since I had a bag just for me and my things that I had forgotten what it was like to have something pretty for just me and myself.Browsing on Etsy one afternoon led me to Hold My Bag. I browsed through her items for sale and found this purse that I was in love with. After contacting the owner, she agreed to send one my way to review!! I have to admit- I may have checked the mail constantly waiting for it.
The day it showed up, packed safely into a large box, I was in Hold My Bag heaven. I immediately switched my stuff from my diaper bag, to my new handbag from Hold My Bag. It held everything (wallet, other small bag, keys, phone, etc) perfectly. There is enough room that I could stick a trim diaper in there as well. There are two perfect pockets that are just the right size for tiny items. The bag closes with a magnetic snap. I've knocked the purse over and have yet to have anything come out, even loose change!
As luck would have it, we were heading

Safety Tats Review and Giveaway! Closed!

"The idea for SafetyTat temporary child ID tattoos was born of necessity one weekend at an amusement park. On Labor Day Weekend, Baltimore Mom, Michele Welsh and her husband, there with their three small children, felt out-numbered. To stave her panic, she quickly wrote her mobile phone number on each of their arms with a ballpoint pen. As she did this, she thoughtfully explained to each of them the importance of staying close to Mommy and Daddy. She also told them that if they were separated that the number on their arm was a way to reconnect with them.Throughout the day of fun, Michele had to rewrite the number several times as it smeared or washed off. Several parents in the park stopped her to ask if that was her number on the kids' arms. Each time, they loved the idea.
The day was a success and the idea for SafetyTat temporary child id tattoos was born."
Especially when it comes to Lovebug. This year, we started making travel plans for music, events, and next month- the beach. Since Lovebug is now more than mobile, I can't help but worry about her running off. I've seen how quickly she can go and even the best watch on her might not be good enough.I had heard about Safety Tats last year. I hadn't needed them, since my daughter was barely crawling. But, I tucked the product back in my mind for when I would need it. I had seen others place a sticker on their child's shirt or backpack, and even the pen on skin, like the creator tried- both had failed though, with the sticker coming off and the pen washing off. I needed something a little more permanent.
I was able to try both the Quick Stick Write-On! in the girl pack and the Original SafetyTat in the super cute butterfly design. It didn't take long until we had the chance to use them on Lovebug. We were heading out to a local music festival.I got out one of the Original Safety Tats, it applies like a regular temporary tattoo. Just stick to the skin, wet it a bit, and voila! Tattoo! It came out looking great. It lasted most of the day (about ten hours). By that point, you could no longer read the phone number. The website says it can last up to 5 days, but I'm not sure under what conditions. Still- I love this product! I won't hesitate to keep using it with my little one.
I just had the chance to try the Quick Stick Safety Tat last week. These can last up to two weeks, and had we not taken it off ourselves, I'm sure it would have. This one is a bit different. It sticks by itself, no water needed. It comes with a special pen to write your number on it. I think this would be great to send along to grandmas, or a babysitter/daycare. That way, you can have the current phone number on your child.
We are heading to the beach next month,
these will be packed with us for sure! There are so many options and designs available with this award winning product. From safety, special needs, allergy and medical alerts, to Spanish and Teen options- Safety Tat has you covered!Safety Tats has generously offered to give TWO Moma Lovebug readers a pack of their Quick Stick Write-Ons!

Dr. Bloom's Chewable Jewels Review and Giveaway! Closed!
"Our very first product to hit the market was conceptualized in December of 2003 while Dr. Bloom was sitting on the floor (seven months pregnant) playing with her twin nephews. As they were playing, she realized that they were drooling and teething on her jewelry. Being a senior in dental school, Dr. Bloom was concerned about their developing/erupting teeth because they were literally chomping and chewing on her glass beaded bracelet and necklace charm. As a soon to be dentist, she quickly informed her sister that chewing on glass beads and metal may be dangerous to developing tooth buds. Her sister then told her “that is why new moms don’t wear jewelry, because babies chew on anything they can get their hands and mouth on”. After that, the search was on to find a material suitable for a teething baby. They searched baby stores, toy stores, and the Internet and came up empty.
Intrigued by the idea, Dr. Bloom continued to research the concept of jewelry designed for moms and safe for babies & toddlers. She realized this concept did not exist. As a mother of a two month old, she then designed and prototyped the first bracelet as a gift for her sister.
In July of 2004, while attending a wedding, she offered bracelets to her son and two nephews
All three boys loved them and stayed quiet for over an hour (a dream come true for any parent). This was the “A-ha” moment."

You may remember that I featured Dr. Bloom's Chewable Jewels on my blog earlier this year. My daughter, who was in the midst of teething pain, appreciated that I had something ready to go whenever she needed to gnaw on something. Teething is so painful for everyone involved, not just the baby.
When Lovebug started getting her molars in, I felt nearly helpless. I had the idea to stick our Dr. Bloom's Jewelry into the freezer for an hour. I'm not really sure if this is recommended or not... But it was nice and cool against me and my daughter liked the feel of it against her sensitive gums.

Aloha Friday #47

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
Do you attend your local Farmer's Market?
I've gotten the chance to go twice this year. While it can be a little more expensive, it's nice to know that it's fresh and local!
Head over to An Island Life for more Aloha Friday!!

I think we're good
So, My wrist is still pretty banged up. I've not been on the computer much at all this past week. I'm trying though! I know we have a couple of winners to announce, and then a bunch of reviews to go up!
I'm really looking forward to a fully functioning wrist LOL It's so hard to take care of a toddler (or really do anything)! I've started just trying to go about my daily activities, hoping that with use, it will get better. But- by the end of the day, I look like I have a balloon animal for hand. Eep.
Keep checking back though! I have a few regular posts coming up, and will try to get the missed posts up this week as well!
